Acres of white pine once covered northern Wisconsin.  Beginning in 1840, men began to log these forests but by 1910 the Wisconsin forests had been decimated.  This is the story of the Wisconsin lumber industry - the lumbermen and companies, the devilment of cities along the Wisconsin, Chippewa, and other northern rivers.
