This small dresser has seen several changes throughout its life. It is made from solid wood with quarter sawn oak veneer top. It was originally stained. Sometime during its life it was painted white, then a light pink color. Then it was refinished back to its original state with the plain wood stain.  This is how it was when I got it.

The finish was not in great shape when I purchased it. My first intention was to remove the finish and put a brand-new top coat on it, leaving the quarter sawn oak showing. I removed the finish and because it had been re-finished so many times I couldn’t get the finish to not appear blotchy. I  didn’t care for the look.

On to plan #2. I painted the cabinet in a beautiful light taupe color that looks fantastic in most homes. I considered replacing the hardware.  However, after cleaning the original hardware, I was pleasantly surprised to find that the brass color was rose gold. I decided it deserved to stay with the dresser.

I love to pick up unloved furniture, or maybe it is really over-loved furniture and make it awesome for the next owner.  I have a workshop in the agricultural classroom of an old school and work my magic on pieces such as this.
